Introduction and Baseline Photos

My interest in photography began a couple of years ago but it has always been a large part of my life because I have always been very interested in film. I used to always be watching movies and I began really learning about and getting into it in sixth grade. As my knowledge about film and the art of movies grew I became drawn to many aspects of it. The writing, music, acting etc. but what my interest always came back to was the cinematography. The art of the pictures that create a reel of film has always been my favorite part of movies. The shots that make up films are the most important parts of movies to me so photography is really interesting to me because it dives deeper into the ideas of composition and color that are explored in the art of cinematography.

I originally took this picture because I thought the reflections on the desk looked interesting but I chose to put it in for this assignment because I took it almost a whole year ago before I thought of going to Collegiate and I think that makes it a lot more interesting to me.

I chose this photo because I think the warm spots of the light in the foreground and the colder blue light of the sunset looks really interesting.

I chose this picture because I thought the framing of the cat behind the curtains looked interesting.
